Wilbern O. "Bill" Hightower

Wilbern O. "Bill" Hightower, 85, of Evansville, Ind., a former long-time resident of St. Joseph, Michigan, passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Bill had retired after working over 50 years as a professional musician. He and his former wife, Louise, who resides in Phoenix, were well known in St. Joe as the musical duo "The Hightowers." He was an avid golfer and had 9 career hole-in-ones. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and a life member of the VFW Post 1114. He was also a former member of the Elks Club.

He is survived by three daughters - Lisa Hightower of Sacramento, Calif., LuAnne Hightower of Brattleboro, Vt., and Jean House of Little Rock, Ark.; a son, Gary Goodman of Los Angeles; three sisters - Juanita Futrell, June Dormeier and Mary Ann Harrington, all of Evansville; two brothers - James Scottie Pace and Jack Pace, both of Evansville; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, at Ziemer Funeral Home, 626 First Avenue, Evansville, Ind., 47710. Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 24, from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
